Mad Hatter’s tea party | To a Tea London
Hey Lovelies. For Mother’s Day my sisters and I decided to treat our Mum to an afternoon tea which we did May 1st. We went to place called To a Tea which is on Farringdon street, and the afternoon tea they do is called A Mad Hatters Tea Party and is Alice in wonderland themed! I thought I would share with you lots of photos that I took and also a little review on it as I really enjoyed it!
To a Tea is a cafe near St Paul’s Cathedral, it features a wide range of different types of tea as well as a food menu including lots of cakes! They do of course offer coffee as well and Prosecco.
I purchased the afternoon tea through Groupon, buying 2 vouchers for 4 people and got The Mad Hatters afternoon tea for 2 with bottomless Prosecco for £29.50 which I think is such great value! You could have the option without the bottomless Prosecco for £25.
I booked this a little while ago and since then have become gluten free as a trial run due to health reasons so unfortunately I couldn’t eat 90% of everything! I did enquire about gluten free which they don’t have sadly but they do have a vegan afternoon tea in planning if that is something for you.
First of all the lady greeted us and sat us at or table, all I had to do was use my name after booking it through groupon and didn’t even have to show my code which was great. She then explained everything that we were going to receive and what to expect. All the staff in there were really bubbly and friendly which was lovely!
We were able to have as much Prosecco, tea and coffee as we could drink in our allotted time which was 90 minutes. You could literally pick any tea you wanted from the menu with the only limit being the floral ones, so if I wanted to, I could of had one of every kind of tea they had which is amazing! It would have been a great opportunity to try some new teas but I stuck to my English breakfast tea.
The tea was loose leaf tea which they then decanter into the little teapots and we all got one each. As a tea lover it tasted amazing. I’d like to go back there again just for a cup of tea!
For 2 people you get a tray of 8 sandwiches, 2 of each filling which were: Cheese and Pickle, Tuna mayonaise with cucumber, Ham & Cheese and finally egg and cress. I couldn’t eat the sandwiches due to being gluten free but my family said they were nice, the only issue is they were very cold to eat as they had been left in the fridge all day which is a bit of a shame, especially if you have sensitive teeth.
Then just as we were finishing the sandwiches the waitress brought out the trays of cakes. The trays were in the style of a tree and Alice in Wonderland themed. We had 2 as it was for 4 people.
The cakes were by far the best bit! (And of course the unlimited Prosecco ). They all tasted amazing and there was such a range to choose from, the scones were still warm which was lovely. I wasn’t supposed to eat scones but I had 2 anyway, a plain one and a currant one, both were really tasty but a tiny bit on the dry side, they definitely needed the cream and jam with them but overall were yummy.
I had the little chocolate treat too which was heavenly, like pure chocolate with a crunchy layer which reminded me of rice crispies.
They also featured a chocolate cupcake, raspberry cupcake, chocolate and peanut treat, a tiramisu one, a red berry one and also raspberry with cream cheese. So a really great variety to suit everyone.
Overall it was a really great experience. To a Tea was such a pretty café and the tea’s themselves were amazing, I would highly recommend you go there if you’re a massive tea lover as it’s clear they know their tea! We managed to get 4 glasses of prosecco each which was an absolute bargain! I would definitely recommend the Mad Hatter’s tea party to people as it was such a lovely theme, friendly staff and really yummy food.
