Evening Skincare Routine

Read an updated budget acne skincare routine here.

Hello lovelies! One of my goals for 2017 was to get into skincare and boy I have! I now HATE it if I don’t at least cleanse my face in the morning and night, whereas if you spoke to me this time last year, I used baby wipes to remove my makeup or even worse I’d be too lazy to take my makeup off completely and sleep in it… gross. So over the last 8 months I’ve been trying and testing a few bits (that my student bank can afford) and have a little skincare routine now every morning and night that I sometimes will alter depending on what skin problems I’m having. Today I’m sharing with you my evening skincare routine and eventually I will do my morning one.

I’m still learning a lot when it comes to skincare, I’ve found a lot of advice from the skincare Queen Aka Caroline Hirons. I have spent hours reading her blog so if you’re new to skincare I highly recommend you check her out! So the steps in which I do my evening skincare routine are:

1. Biore – Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

I don’t use a specific makeup remover to take my makeup off at the end of the day (if you have any recommendations let me know in the comments) but this cleanser does an amazing job at removing all my makeup. If I have a heavy makeup day all I need to do is Double cleanse with this, I rub it all over my face and it sometimes tingles a little bit (which I like) then I take a warm damp flannel and wipe my entire face. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean!

2. Rose Water

Next I use this Rose water that I actually bought off of amazon , not sure if it’s supposed to be for cooking or if it’s multipurpose but it does an amazing job. I put some of this on a cotton wool pad and gently rub it around my face, it removes and last bits of makeup and dirt I missed cleansing and because it is Rose it helps to soothe and calm redness.

3. The Ordinary Hylaronic Acid  5% + B5

I recently featured this in my June favourites which you can check out here. I like using this cause I tend to get a lot of dry skin, especially around my blemishes, I find that this helps to really add moisture to my skin and reduce the dryness!

4. La Roche Posay – Effaclar Duo

Next I’ve been using my Effaclar Duo as I’ve had really problematic skin lately (all my life) and this product is designed for acne. Every time I use this I wake up with visibly clearer skin, my redness calms down a lot and I don’t get any new blemishes. It’s been a SAVIOUR. It’s also featured in my budget acne skincare routine here.

5. The Ordinary – Rosehip Oil

Finally to add more moisture to my dry skin I rub a few drops of The Ordinary Rosehip oil into my skin thoroughly, you’ll look shiny when you go to sleep but you’ll wake up with lovely soft skin!

6. Castor oil

And last but not least I use Castor oil for my eyebrows! I put some of this oil on a cotton bud and really rub it through my eyebrows and into the skin on my brows.I Got this off of Amazon a well for about £4. This might sound mad, but it helps to promote hair growth! It honestly works so well, I was very sceptical when I first bought it but it does improve growth! I’m so desperate to get a blog post out about it because I can’t recommend it enough, I just want to get some decent before and after pictures so I can show the difference!

These are the products I use for my blemish prone and very dry skin. Do you have any recommendations?

Clare xx

I recommend the Garnier miscellar water to remove your makeup before you wash your face with the Biore cleanser <3 I used to love the Biore cleanser, but it actually has pretty bad ingredients in it, so I use something a bit more expensive but almost identical to it, but it has all natural and organic ingredients, I'll have a blog post on it soon <3
I also love the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo, it's so good with scaring <3 and I started using castor oil for my eyebrows and lashes last night. Looks like we have pretty similar routines (great minds think alike) so I need to try the ordinary skincare.

    Lots of love,

Ooo you know I’m obsessed with skincare lately too! So of course I loved reading this post. That Bioré cleanser sounds so good and I’m so intrigued by your little castor oil trick! Also I recently read that if you have dry skin around spots it might sometimes be good to let them stay dry to get rid of them! But I haven’t tried it yet, I also can’t remember where I read it! But I just thought I would share that with you!

This is such a good post. I love finding out about other’s fave skin care. I haven’t tried the Bioré but it sounds really nice. I also have dry skin with the odd blemish so some great ideas here. I tried castor oil on my brows but it didn’t do anything for me. I used Revitabrow which is amazing for growing brows back in!

Ooh that charcoal cleanser sounds really nice, I’ve never tried any of these products but I’ve heard such good things about a lot of them, especially castor oil, I really need to invest in some! Especially as I’m trying to grow out my brows to reshape them.

I haven’t tried anything with rose water in before, but I have heard it does wonders! Also, the same for the brand The Ordinary! xo
